In the recent article on the gravel policy I did not make it clear as to how individual homeowners paid for their gravel after the first free load. To some it may have seemed like the individual needed to pay the owner of the gravel pit directly for however much gravel they got.  Not so, the county loader operator will simply mark down the amount of gravel received and the cost of the gravel will be included on the bill you get from the county.  The county will actually pay the gravel pit owner for the gravel and then the county will be reimbursed when the individual pays their invoice.  the homeowner does not need to do anything other than request the gravel and then pay the county invoice when they receive it.

The agendas for commissioner meetings are posted on the doors of the north entrance to the courthouse at least twenty four hours prior to the meeting.  If someone or a group want a decision from the commissioners they need to contact the commissioners office to confirm a time on the agenda and they also need to state what their business involves.  This gives the commissioners some time to research whatever issue is at hand and it enables the public to be aware of a possible impending issue.  Usually the agendas are not full and folks can just walk in and talk with the commissioners during an open spot on the agenda... and they are welcome to do so, but they can not expect a decision on matters not on the agenda.  This is all part of the open meetings situation.  If someone is speaking for a group of people we need some sort of documentation form that group that indeed that person is speaking for them.

Some may wonder about the recent resolution on "Coordination".  There is a Federal Law saying that all government entities local, state and federal must coordinate and cooperate with all other government entities before any actions that impact another government are initiated.  In a nutshell, it is away to keep local officials aware of what is planned for their county, city or whatever, before action by some other entity is started. This applies only to government related entities and includes any government involvement--even if there is only very minimal involvement.  It just helps governments to avoid being  "blindsided".  Actually we need to... and do...thank the CARR group for making us aware of this tool.

Speaking of agendas, news etc.- I think we are going to try and make more use of electronic media and post agendas, meeting notices, and other pertinent information on the internet-web pages, and possibly local TV channel (3)   http://tvchannel3.com/   more on this as it happens.
