We welcome Bill Koehler as  County Commissioner for District 2 and we wish Rod Brown well in his retirement .

It is well known that we are a small county in population but I really didn’t think about just how small until a little research showed we are actually fourth from the bottom in population in Colorado. San Juan county has 560, Hinsdale has 848, Mineral has 937 and Kiowa comes in at 1368.

One of the items that came from our re-organizational meeting was to make a slight addition in meeting notification. In an effort to help people have  more chance to know about our meetings and the agendas,  we will post the agenda on the glass portion of the north door to the courthouse, in addition to the door to the commissioners office and it will also be posted on our internet web pages at least forty eight (48) hours prior to any meeting.   www.kiowacounty-colorado.com  and click on Commissioners.

Meeting dates will continue to be listed in the upcoming events in the Press. This will also mean that if someone wants on the agenda they need to contact Peggy at the Commissioners office prior to her posting the agenda. We would not exclude anyone from meeting with us but it is really preferred to be on the agenda.

If someone wants to know a little more about state government they can do so via the internet address www.leg.state.co.us.  Here you can find out about legislation, a directory of legislators, legislative calendars, legislative resources and the CRS (Colorado Revised Statutes)

The Governors office can be reached on the internet via www.colorado.gov . Here you can get information about the Governors office, legislative and court data as well as links to all state government departments.

The U.S. Congress can be contacted at www.congress.org  .

I think it will be nice working with Bill. When we went to lunch the other day Bill moved that Donald buy lunch, I made the second and the motion passed (2-1).
